Erik van Haren of De Telegraaf reports that Max Verstappen is refusing to give up the escape clause in his Red Bull contract. "For weeks there has been latent friction between Verstappen's camp and the Red Bull leadership, because Max has so far refused to declare that he will drive for the team next year," van Haren writes. He adds that Verstappen "feels ignored by his team, including his engineers," and that at Silverstone the Dutchman pushed to replace his engine and change his setup before the race, while team management held firm. Verstappen's position is that the clause was agreed years ago and he will not be pressured into surrendering it.
